Meet Our Staff Team
Colin has been a long time supporter of River Garden, having initially served on the board in the early days of the project. He has now come on board as CEO and brings a wealth of experience, drive and passion to the project. Colin has worked across the horticulture "field" throughout his career including as Curator for RHS Wisley and also as Head Gardener at the Royal Lodge for the Queen Mother. He is also a volunteer for Bethany Christian Trust, and enjoys using his skills to help empower disadvantaged people to make positive changes to their lives. |
Mikael is not only Operations Manager but was also one of the founding Board Members here at River Garden. He joined the Board in 2015 and has been a driving force in shaping the way the project functions every day. Mikael has worked in the recovery sector for 11 years. Prior to his role at River Garden, Mikael worked for SAMH in Glasgow, supporting people with mental health issues and those in recovery. Before moving to Scotland, Mikael both lived and worked at Basta in Sweden, a similar project offering rehabilitation through social enterprise and community, where he managed one of the facilities. |
Christine is our Head Gardeniser here and also manages a large part of the volunteer programme. Previously she set up and ran the Education Garden at Dumfries House - running the garden to meet food-education needs on any level, including 5000 primary children a year all getting hands-on experience. For 14 years Chris also ran an Organic smallholding producing and delivering a veg box scheme throughout Glasgow and Ayrshire. She's also worked as a care-worker for the elderly and has good experience of dementia care. Chris loves her time working at River Garden and is certainly kept on her toes by the residents! |
