Ally - Recovery Worker
Staff Spotlight: Ally Ritchie
From Resident to Recovery Worker
Having been a resident at River Garden myself, I felt a deep calling to return as a recovery worker. I wanted to help others have the same opportunities and chances that I was given. There is a special kind of understanding that comes from having walked that path, and I’m honored to give back to this community.
I am incredibly excited to be working alongside our new team. They are a group of talented people with unique skills, and I truly believe that together, we can help River Garden flourish and reach its full potential.
Advice & Insights
For anyone considering recovery, my message is simple: You won’t regret it. No matter how difficult your situation may feel right now, there is always a way out. Taking that first step is the beginning of a life you might not yet think is possible.
I am particularly passionate about improving access to support. It concerns me how difficult it can be for those currently struggling with addiction to actually get the help they need, and I’m committed to being part of the solution.
Balance & Self-Care
My biggest piece of advice for anyone—whether in recovery or just navigating life—is to be kind to yourself. To take care of my own wellbeing, I make sure to take at least one day (or even a half-day) every week to completely switch off, relax, and recharge my batteries.
Growing up near Greenan Shore, that area holds a special place in my heart. It is still the place I go whenever I need to relax, breathe the sea air, and get away from it all.
A Few Favourites
- Favourite Movie: The Usual Suspects. It’s such a clever film with a brilliant twist that you never see coming.
- Favourite Cracker Joke: Why did the scarecrow win an award? Because he was outstanding in his field!
