Our Recovery Programme
Your time at River Garden will be structured around 5 active programmes that residents will work through with your Key Worker. Don’t worry, there is free time too for people to catch a breath, read a book, relax with some music or dance in the gardens.
The model follows a distinct path from a period of assessment and prehab, to residential care and support then move on and aftercare.
River Garden Journey
Referral
Allocated Key Worker, Outline RGA programme culture and expectations, suitability assessment, connection with significant others and agencies.
Prehab
Develop initial support plan, baseline outcome star, RGA visits and overnights, readiness plan, partner engagement, admission date.
Residential Support
Personalised support plan, housing support planning, employability and meaningful activity, engaging in therapeutic programme, discharge planning, improving health and wellbeing.
Aftercare
Continued access to Key Worker, digital and in person community support, community outreach, family support, alumni, employability support.

There 5 programmes that exist across your stay:
Work Programme
This is a work-based therapeutic programme where you build a new life through meaningful contribution in horticulture, hospitality, woodcraft, and conservation. It also includes external career development.
Therapeutic Programme
This is a 24-week residential therapeutic program across three phases (Learn About Me, for Me, for Life) that focuses on deep self-awareness, skill-building, and reintegration delivered by specialists and is person-centred.
Activity Programme
This programme restores the joy of life through a structured mix of creative expression, physical and mental health activities, building social confidence, and resilience challenges like cold water dipping.
Personal Readiness
This is a life-readiness programme focused on achieving stability through holistic health reviews (GPs/Dentists), financial security, debt management, housing stability, and digital inclusion for a thriving, independent life.
Family and Significant Others
This programme sees recovery as a communal effort, dedicated to restoring family relationships. It offers individualised support, Key Worker guidance, family liaison, and external partner support to rebuild healthy connections.
